In remote communities, timely access to rabies post‑exposure protection can be the difference between risk and reassurance. When a potential dog rabies exposure occurred in Marshall, Alaska, local health authorities needed preventive doses quickly to help protect people who may have been exposed. As part of a coordinated public-health response, we supported local authorities with rabies vaccines to help ensure timely access. In remote settings, logistics and distance can be some of the biggest challenges in an urgent public-health response. For rabies, where prompt intervention is essential, making sure vaccines are available when and where they are needed can help make a real difference.
