Last week marked HWAI's first anniversary, a good moment to take stock of what this organisation has built in just one year: using AI and satellite imagery to detect threats and disaster impacts on cultural heritage, at a scale that simply wasn't possible before. The occasion brought together HWAI's first Scientific Committee, a fantastic group of people spanning AI, archaeology, remote sensing, and heritage conservation. I'm honoured to serve as Chair of this committee for the next two years, and genuinely excited about the work ahead. Thank you to the whole HWAI team, and to the organization's partners, Microsoft's AI for Good Lab, Planet, ALIPH - International alliance for the protection of heritage, and Iconem, for making this possible. More to come. Andrew Zolli, Inbal Becker-Reshef, Valéry Freland, Yves Ubelmann, Juan M.
