Basilea was committed USD 13.3 million from the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA), part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. This further tranche will support the development of our novel oral antibiotic ceftibuten-ledaborbactam for the treatment of complicated urinary tract infections (cUTIs). Basilea's CEO David Veitch said: “This funding helps us to further advance this novel antibiotic, including the preparation of the clinical phase 3 program. By advancing this promising candidate, we are potentially addressing the critical unmet need for the oral treatment of cUTIs caused by multidrug-resistant Gram-negative bacteria.” We thank #BARDA for their important support and look forward to continuing this collaboration to bring ceftibuten-ledaborbactam to patients in need.
