Set within the forests of Harads, Sweden, ππͺπ°π΄π±π©π¦π³π¦ by BIG - Bjarke Ingels Group was created for Treehotel AB as a suspended hospitality structure that blurs the boundary between architecture and ecosystem. Developed alongside ornithologist Ulf Γhman, the project integrates 350 birdhouses into the outer skin of the mirrored structure, embedding ecological function directly into the architecture. Beyond its sculptural presence, the faΓ§ade functions as active ecological infrastructure - creating nesting opportunities for local bird species while visually dissolving the architecture into the forest canopy. Accessed by a sloping bridge, the structure opens gradually toward panoramic views of the surrounding landscape through carefully framed apertures and filtered light. Inside, the atmosphere shifts toward darker tones and tactile surfaces that create a sense of quiet enclosure while maintaining a continuous dialogue with nature outside. Rather than positioning architecture as separate from its environment, Biosphere proposes a more reciprocal model of inhabitation - one where design actively participates in the life of the ecosystem it occupies. πͺΊπ²πͺπ‘π¦ πΈ Mats Engfors
