Physician turned school founder, building empowering educational AI tools | Acton Academy Falls Church

What happens when learners design their OWN video games to learn math? That's the challenge I gave 11 Acton Academy Falls Church learners yesterday as part of my fellowship in AI and education from Worldwide Studios. We started with simple paper prototypes. Some ideas they came up with: • “A basketball game that teaches fractions and percentages using clips of Steph Curry making and missing shots, plus real player stats.” • “A space mission where a rocket travels from Earth to the Moon to Mars, using equations to calculate fuel and distance.” • “A rescue game where you save an alien queen by solving math clues to choose the correct doors.” The exciting thing is that these days, ANYONE can actually create their own video game. We are starting an Acton Quest on game design in a week, where learners will use AI tools and “vibe coding” to bring their ideas to life. I can't wait to see what they create. Do you have cool game ideas that teach math? Comment and I will share them with our learners.
