What does it need for a future with #abundantenergy? It requires a system – both infrastructurally and regulatorily – that synchronises supply and demand with a significant share of renewables. As I’ve often mentioned in my talks, technology isn’t the bottleneck here, not on the hardware or software side. So, how do we get there from where we are? We need to maximise the use of existing assets and those being added to the system because they have an economic case. These include devices electrifying households while we invest in digitizing the infrastructure. Current German regulations tackling the supply side need to address the following (more to be read in Handelsblatt Online with Philipp Schröder): ⚡️End the EEG feed-in tariff ⚡️Provide digital and automated access to the spot market for electricity from these assets ⚡️Ensure investment stability with a market premium 💡This enables technologies like #HeartbeatAI to effectively manage at scale and reach their full potential. (By the way, we’ve already reached one gigawatt!). 🌪️ The biggest challenge that I do see here currently in Germany is clearly scalable and digital processes to allow for a smooth transition into spot marketing.
