Putting the customer at the heart of engineering solutions is exactly what we saw earlier this week at the National Highways & Supply Chain Customer-Focussed Hackathon, hosted by us and AtkinsRéalis, and supported by Connect Plus Services, Chevron Traffic Management, HW Martin (Traffic Management) Limited, Virtus and Core Highways . Across the week, teams of early careers colleagues - supported by senior leaders - were challenged to develop practical, customer-focused ideas to improve how we design and deliver across five key areas. In a short space of time, we saw thoughtful, innovative proposals that focused on: - Improving communication with road users - Rethinking how we plan and deliver work to enhance the overall customer experience - Making the network a safer place for our frontline colleagues. All developed within a week and brought to life on the day. Our judging panel - Sandie Forte-Gill, Laura Baker-Lacey, Joanna Vezey, Scott Shaw and Andrew Dodsworth - were impressed by both the quality of ideas and the energy behind them, even introducing an additional runner-up category on the day. Well done to all the winners of the Golden Traffic Cone. A big thank you to our judges, the experts who supported the teams, and most importantly the participants. Your enthusiasm and willingness to challenge thinking is exactly what will help drive a more customer-focused future for our sector. #Highways #Hackathon
