This week, World Geothermal Congress 2026 brought together global industry leaders, innovators, and policymakers shaping the future of geothermal. One message came through clearly: geothermal is moving from potential to execution. Delivering at scale will require the industry to work together in new ways and build repeatable models.  Three takeaways stood out: ✔️ Firm, reliable energy is non-negotiable. Demand for 24/7 power and heat- from data centers to industrial systems- is accelerating geothermal’s role as a dependable, low-carbon solution. ✔️ Speed and certainty will define winners. Faster delivery, lower risk, and greater predictability are becoming critical differentiators, requiring more integrated approaches and closer collaboration across the value chain. ✔️ Scaling depends on repeatability. Next-generation systems will only scale by moving from first-of-a-kind projects to consistent, bankable portfolios. Throughout the week, we engaged with customers and partners and hosted multiple panel sessions featuring speakers from XGS Energy, Eden Geothermal Limited, Ennatuurlijk, Vallourec, Quaise Energy, Burns & McDonnell, Mazama, Birch Geothermal, and Fervo Energy, exploring how to accelerate projects and scale next-generation systems. A consistent theme emerged: the need to reduce risk, compress timelines, and improve project outcomes. At Baker Hughes, these are exactly the challenges we are built to address.
