One of the most significant shifts in the new B Lab Standards is the recognition that individual business action is not enough. Real, lasting change — on climate, on human rights, on economic equity — requires companies to act together. And while this concept isn’t new to the B Corp community — under the previous standards, 76% of B Corps were already engaged in collective action — the new standards build on that foundation, and raise the bar. All B Corps will now be required to meet our Government Affairs & Collective Action Impact Topic and engage in collaborative efforts to drive systemic change, from mentorship and coalition building to policy advocacy and external research.
