We’re delighted to celebrate the first group of B Corps to certify under our new global standards! Twenty years ago, 81 companies chose to go first. Today, a new cohort is following their lead. Headquartered across seven countries, with operations spanning more than 20 and products reaching customers in over 50 globally, this cohort ranges from small, independent companies to family-owned businesses founded as far back as 1870. Their diversity makes the point argued over B Lab’s 20-year history: that how a company treats its workers, communities, and the planet is a vital question for every business, and every leader. The new B Lab Standards are the most significant overhaul of B Corp Certification in our history, requiring independently verified performance across seven Impact Topics — from Climate Action to Human Rights — and mandatory improvement milestones built in. They are rigorous and, as proved by this cohort, attainable for any company willing to lead with purpose and accountability.
