Corporate Tax Assistant Manager at KPMG
Three months ago, I arrived in Auckland for a secondment opportunity with KPMG New Zealand, not fully knowing what to expect. Today, as I wrap up this chapter, I leave with far more than just professional experience. I leave with meaningful friendships, unforgettable memories, and a deeper appreciation for the value of global collaboration. Over the past three months, I had the privilege of working alongside incredibly talented and welcoming colleagues who made me feel at home from day one. From client work and team collaborations to coffee chats, team lunches, social events, and exploring Auckland together, every experience reminded me how strong connections can be built despite different backgrounds and cultures. This secondment pushed me outside my comfort zone in many ways: • Adapting to a different working environment and culture • Building relationships with new teams across offices • Learning new tax knowledge, tax softwares and ways of working • Representing my home office while embracing a new environment Beyond work, I’m grateful for the chance to experience life in New Zealand — from the stunning scenery and sporting atmosphere to cultural celebrations and weekend adventures with amazing people. These are memories I will genuinely carry with me for a long time. A huge thank you to everyone in the Auckland office for your kindness, support, and generosity throughout my time here. Special appreciation to my PM Patrick Martin and buddy Ajesh S. , teammates, Global Mobility team Yeliz Ruso and fellow secondees who made this experience both professionally rewarding and personally meaningful. I’m also thankful to KPMG Singapore Audrey Wong Lydia D. for the trust and support in making opportunities like this possible. Experiences like these truly show the value of global mobility and the importance of investing in people and cross-border collaboration. As I head home, I do so with new perspectives, stronger relationships, and many lessons that I’ll continue to carry forward in both my career and personal growth. Until next time, Auckland 🇳🇿 #KPMG #SouthASPACSecondment #GlobalMobility #Auckland #NewZealand #ProfessionalGrowth #Networking #Gratitude #Teamwork
