Meet Henrik Klein Moberg, CTO and Co-founder of IFLAI. One of the most rewarding parts of AstraZeneca BioVentureHub is seeing entrepreneurs gain direct access to the realities, challenges, and opportunities of the life science industry. By working close to AstraZeneca’s R&D environment, companies can better understand real-world needs, refine their technologies accordingly, and accelerate the path from promising research to meaningful impact. This is especially important in fields like AI technology development, where some of the greatest value is created when deeptech startups and industry experts collaborate early combining novel technologies with real-world challenges from the start. Henrik and his team at IFLAI, a Chalmers University of Technology spinout, is a great example. The company develops data- and energy-efficient AI for industrial applications, transforming complex scientific data into actionable insights. During our conversation, Henrik shared reflections on the transition from academia to entrepreneurship, from asking “Can this be shown?” to “Can this create value for others?” A shift that many deeptech founders can relate to. As Bjarki Johannesson, Director Cell Painting & Predictive Safety at AstraZeneca notes: “Having IFLAI on campus over the last 9 months has showcased in action the promise of BioVentureHub as have been able to channel and focus the cutting-edge technology development of IFLAI on very specific AZ challenges - that have in turn give IFLAI real-time insight into the pharmaceutical industry.
