Just wrapped up an incredibly insightful industry session at Commonwealth Bank! Here are my main takeaways: Tech Innovation in Banking:  • Learned about cutting-edge share transfer processes from Jessica Li and Cherry Peng • Anna Leontjeva presented a fascinating project on transaction-based abuse prevention - a crucial application of data science for customer safety • Discovered challenges with AI agents struggling to interpret banking terminology correctly (even misunderstanding "CommBank" itself!) - highlighting the importance of domain-specific AI training Career Inspiration:  The graduate panel was refreshingly honest and relaxed! Met recent grads currently in their rotational programs, including Annie Huynh and Michelle Lieng. They shared that their initial days were quite relaxed with lots of training, and when asked what to bring to CommBank, they jokingly said snacks! Michelle's transition from Actuarial Science to Data Science was particularly inspiring - proof that career pivots are possible and rewarding. Golden Advice from the Grads:  1️⃣ Network actively - relationships matter 2️⃣ Keep upskilling - continuous learning is the key It's amazing to see how traditional banking is evolving through technology while maintaining focus on customer protection and experience. The intersection of finance, AI, and social responsibility continues to create exciting opportunities. These insights have highlighted the importance of understanding industry-specific challenges when developing solutions. A huge thanks to UTS Women in Engineering and IT and Lucía Bautista for presenting this opportunity! Thanks to the Commonwealth Bank team and Michelle Brownsdon for hosting such an engaging event! #CommBank #Banking #TechInnovation #CareerDevelopment #AI #GraduateProgram #NetworkingEvents #FinTech
