Excited to announce the publication of paper 'Climate-resilient development pathways for urban areas: a multi-dimensional classification framework for India' in Environmental Research Letters, with Dilip Naidu, Aromar Revi, Chandni Singh, Amir Bazaz, Jagdish Krishnaswamy. This paper develops a multi-dimensional framework to develop city types to think through urban CRD. Instead of placing cities into a single category, it looks at them across multiple dimensions such as development, emissions, climate risks, and urban form. This means each city can be understood in a more layered way, allowing us to explore different combinations across these dimensions and identify where synergies or trade-offs might emerge across development, mitigation and adaptation. The framework helps move beyond one-size-fits-all approaches by showing how pathways to climate action can differ depending on where a city stands, and offers a useful way to think about how to prioritise and accelerate climate action in diverse urban contexts.
