They said honesty is the best policy, they said it right. Today, I had an online interview. The recruiter asked me to turn my camera on, while theirs was off. I thought, If we're normalizing professionalism, let's normalize equality too. So I politely asked if they could turn their camera on as well. It felt weird being the only one on camera, like I was giving an interview to a wall. She smiled ( i assume ), turned it on, asked me a few technical questions, and I answered them confidently. At the end, she said, "We're hiring you not because you answered everything correctly, but because you are honest and you know how to stand up for yourself." I sat there feeling very proud. So guys always be honest and stand up for yourself, it wont harm anyone. Kidding, guys. None of this happened, not because I wouldn't say it, but because I don't get interview calls. Might delete this later because I know this is too unserious for LinkedIn, and this story has nothing to do with anything. I just wanted to post my thoughts about why recruiters don't turn their camera on. I really am curious.
