I just met Steven Bartlett! This feels a bit crazy to write, but if you know me, you know how much I’ve been a fan of this podcast. Yesterday, Steven spoke to us at Revolut’s Meet The Revolutionaries Event. Here were my takeaways: 💻 Steven started off by saying that after 7 years he’s now hit 1 billion streams on the DOAC podcast. But for the first 3 years he had virtually 0 listeners, it was only in the last 2 years that he gained 95% of views, of which 50% was in the last year alone. Moral of the story, stay consistent and enjoy the process. Be okay with producing bad work, and working even nobody is watching. 👩🏻💻 Marketing tip: produce top of the funnel content to build an audience. Treat yourself like a media company, except you happen to have a solution to the problem you’re talking about. Give value, not advertising. That’s how to get eyes on your business, some viewers won’t turn into customers, and that’s okay. Look at RedBull, you’ll see content around their values, but you probably won’t see a can in their video, but they've built a following of 25 million people. 🚀 Opportunity and distraction look the same at the start. Be narrow and focus. 📚 Failure is feedback, feedback is knowledge, and knowledge is power. 👩🔬 Kill the guessing, stop spending your time thinking of the “right” decision, just experiment, experiment, experiment. Finally, when I asked him for advice on ARCHIF I mentioned how I was anxious about the situation and if it would work- he said simply “just start.” Thank you, Steven and Revolut for this unforgettable experience.
