Faith-based organizations are a cornerstone of healthcare delivery across Africa. They combine deep community trust with extensive last-mile reach, serving health facilities in remote communities that commercial supply chains often don't - making them essential to how healthcare access is delivered in practice. Joint Medical Store JMS is a powerful example of this. As a faith-based organization, JMS operates one of the most trusted and far-reaching distributions networks in Uganda, playing a critical role in the country's health system. Last week, our team was on the ground in Uganda with the JMS team. Together, we've delivered over 86 million units of health products into Uganda's health system, through facilities serving some of the country's most underserved communities. By combining JMSโ€™s distribution network with Axmedโ€™s procurement platform, weโ€™re enabling more efficient sourcing across a global supplier base, greater price transparency and savings, and faster, more coordinated delivery into facilities. But beyond the numbers, this partnership is about system strengthening. Itโ€™s about building the infrastructure that allows trusted networks like JMS to operate with greater reach, transparency, and efficiency. Making it easier for the facilities they serve to access the medicines they need, when they need them, and more affordably. As Ebrahim Adamjee, MD, Executive Director, Commercial & Partnerships, East Africa at Axmed, puts it:โ€จโ€œStrong healthcare systems are not built in isolation. They are built through partnerships rooted in trust, shared values and a relentless focus on the patient. Our collaboration with JMS is a reflection of that belief. By combining JMS's expansive network spanning over 3,000 facilities across Uganda with our supply capabilities, we are working together to ensure that essential medicines and health products reach the communities that need them most. This is more than a supplier relationship. It is a long-term commitment to building a more resilient and equitable healthcare ecosystem in Uganda, one facility at a time.โ€ Denise Tuiime Mutambi, Director Planning and Procurement, JMS, added: "Axmed has proven that a strong model, backed by operational excellence and deep commitment, can deliver real impact even within complex environments. They have consistently demonstrated an exceptional ability to navigate the complexities of the global healthcare supply chain, developing pragmatic strategies that produce measurable and sustainable impact." Weโ€™re grateful for a collaborative few days with the JMS team, and look forward to continuing to build our partnership. #AxmedVoices #HealthSystems #GlobalHealth #Partnerships #AccessToMedicines Baguma Bildard Felix Ohnmacht, Ph.D. Joyce Njeri Joel Kojo Abaka Anaman Ebrahim Adamjee, MD
