Between 1936 and 1970, Charles de Gaulle wrote letters to his mother, his wife, and his son. Private words, never meant for history books, yet offering a unique and intimate window into the mind of a visionary statesman at the most decisive moments of the 20th century. Until December 2024, that correspondence sat outside public reach. The AXA Foundation for Human Progress backed its acquisition by the Archives nationales de France, so it could leave private hands and enter the national collections. These letters are now preserved, and open to anyone who wants to read them. Clément Rouxel takes you to the Archives nationales de France to know more.
