Qantas is about to redefine ultra-long-haul travel with Project Sunrise. An initiative that will see the airline launch the world’s longest non-stop commercial passenger flights between Sydney and London, beginning October 2027. The programme is the culmination of almost a decade of planning, research, aircraft development and cabin design targeting distance, one of aviation’s most persistent limitations. Australia’s geographic isolation has forced Qantas, and other Oceania bound airlines, to rely on intermediate stops when connecting the country with Europe and North America.
