Aventino Music presents Pantalone and Colombina, by Hans L. Hirsch, featured on the album Duetti Domestici by Natalia Benedetti and Guido Arbonelli. Hans Ludwig Hirsch is an Italian-German composer and author who, alongside an extensive career in composition and recording, has undertaken significant apprenticeship with distinguished composers and conductors, including Nino Sanzogno, Wolfgang Sawallisch, Goffredo Petrassi, and Harald Genzmer. “The two clarinets represent (as suggested by the title) Pantalone and Colombina, who, as in typical Commedia dell’Arte scenes, alternately chase one another, engage in dialogue, and playfully interact. The whole is shaped through a solid, intricate, and elegant contrapuntal writing, which acts as the binding element throughout the compositional structure.
