The Great Unwinding: Physical-AI Data Fabric From the Data-Economy to the Intelligent and Autonomous Economy. The Interstate Highway of bits as a model of a world where data is shipped, not present. It was built on the concepts of fronthaul, midhaul, and backhaul to support cloud computing, streaming, and your Zoom call. But Physical-AI? Autonomous drones negotiating low-altitude corridors? A digital twin of a factory floor updating in milliseconds to mirror every weld, every forklift, every human hand? This world breaks the model. Here's why. The Latency Trap: INTELLIGENT INFRASTRUCTURE Solves Fronthaul is most latency-sensitive. RU to DU. Microseconds. But that's still a trip. A journey. A round-trip ticket from the antenna to the Distributed Unit. Physical-AI doesn't take trips. It lives where the action is. When a drone avoids a collapsing structure or a ground vehicle swerves for a child, the inference cannot leave the economic zone. It cannot go to a DU. It cannot go to a CU. It certainly cannot go to a Core network 50 miles away. The speed of light is too slow. Light in standard fiber travels ~200,000 km/s. Sounds fast. But a round‑trip with real equipment and DU processing can be a massive number of clock cycles a local 5GHz AI chip performing sensor fusion could leverage to act. Fronthaul is a relic for Physical-AI. Autonomy Institute, Intelligent Infrastructure Commerce & Defense Act
