Your AI agents are only as good as what they read. And what they read is getting polluted. Researchers modeled what happens as AI content fills the web. The scary part isn't that quality drops. It's that it doesn't. Once ~67% of sources were synthetic, over 80% of what got retrieved was synthetic too. Accuracy stayed green the whole time. A system that looks perfectly healthy. Quietly running on AI quoting AI. Now point that at agents that pull from the web to make decisions. You can test the agent's logic all you want. If the ground it stands on is sludge, the answer is confidently wrong and everything still looks fine. Verification can't stop at the agent anymore. It has to reach what the agent feeds on. If your AI pulls from external sources, how would you know the inputs are clean?
