AFIA was pleased to bring finance industry leaders together for an Executive Exchange Roundtable in Sydney last week. The discussion opened with a global perspective on the geopolitical and macroeconomic forces shaping the industry, including Australia's role as a middle power in the current environment, alongside the energy transition and pressures across supply chains. A key theme throughout the roundtable was the role of technology and data in risk management. The discussion covered the rapid growth of AI, emerging risks, opportunities and governance challenges associated with its adoption. Participants also considered the strategic implications of data reform, including the rollout of Australia’s Consumer Data Right (CDR), which began with banking, followed by energy and will extend to non-bank lenders from 2026. Thank you to our roundtable guests, and to AFIA CEO Diane Tate and Darren Gerber, Partner at KordaMentha, for opening the discussion, as well as AFIA Board Members Mario Rehayem and Cameron Poolman for their engagement. #AFIA #ExecutiveExchange #AI #Governance #Regulation
