Ngalurrtju Aboriginal Land Trust is located ~250km north-west of Alice Springs, on the traditional lands of the Anmatyerr, Warlpiri and Luritja Peoples. Directly adjoining AWC’s Newhaven Wildlife Sanctuary, these two properties protect almost 600,000 hectares in Central Australia. 🤝 With its rich assortment of land types, Ngalurrtju Aboriginal Land Trust is a hotspot for desert biodiversity. The landscape is spectacular, with shimmering salt lakes, ochre clay pans and undulating calcareous plains crossed by ancient quartzite mountains featuring dramatic scarps and deep gorges. Ngalurrtju Traditional Owners and First Nations Rangers, Central Land Council, and AWC staff work together to protect this exceptional tract of land, sharing the values of Caring for Country, conservation of native plants and animals, protection of sacred sites, and mutual learning. 🎥 B Leue/AWC
