And with a hop, skip, and a jump, this little Western Pygmy Possum is recorded and ready to return home! It was one of many small animals processed as part of our Ecohealth monitoring surveys in the Western River Refuge on Kangaroo Island, where we work with KI Land for Wildlife to help wildlife bounce back beyond the reach of feral predators. Kangaroo Island is a mammal mecca, home to Eastern Ring-tailed, Brush-tailed and Western Pygmy possums, alongside other threatened mammals. The island also supports up to 50 endemic and 17 nationally threatened plant species, meaning these nocturnal pollinators have their work cut out for them! 📹 B Leue/AWC
