These researchers are tracking the movements of threatened parrot species across Australia to help protect biodiversity while developing the renewable energy sector. The Difficult Bird Research Group at ANU Fenner School of Environment and Society is tracking gang-gang cockatoos across Australia using small GPS transmitters to learn how far the birds travel and where they go during and after breeding. The project is the largest-ever parrot telemetry study and is a key project funded by the Renewables Environmental Research Initiative (RERI) led by the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW).
