Congratulations to Dr Karlie Noon and Associate Professor Damien Farine, who have been named recipients of the 2026 Wayfinder Award from the National Geographic Society! The Award recognises 15 individuals across the globe whose work is tackling some of the planet's most pressing challenges to create a more sustainable, informed and connected future. Karlie is an astronomer, author and science communicator whose work connects Indigenous sky knowledge with contemporary astrophysics, helping to broaden our understanding of both science and culture. Damien's pioneering research is transforming our understanding of animal behaviour, social networks and collective movement, revealing how animals make decisions, share information and adapt to changing environments. As recipients of the Award, both join the global community of National Geographic Explorers working to create a more sustainable, informed and connected future.
