Tasmania NCC 2025 update – commencement and transition arrangements The Tasmanian Government has confirmed that NCC 2025 will commence in Tasmania on Friday 1 May 2026, due to the Building Amendment Bill 2026 not having passed both houses of Parliament ahead of the scheduled start date. As a result, NCC 2025 will apply by default under the existing provisions of the Building Act 2016. While the Bill has passed the House of Assembly, it has not yet been considered by the Legislative Council. The Bill is intended to pause the adoption of NCC 2025, allowing NCC 2022 to continue in force once the legislation is finalised. Until that occurs, NCC 2025 applies to new building approvals from 1 May 2026, with transitional provisions available where substantial design progress has been made prior to that date. Tasmania’s transitional arrangements recognise certificates of likely compliance issued before 1 May 2026, or projects where substantial design progress can be demonstrated, providing some continuity for projects already underway. Further guidance is expected once Parliament resumes and the status of the Bill is resolved. To read the full article please visit: https://lnkd.in/g9N8Pjjm
