It's easy to focus on what makes people different. The reality is that we're often connected by the very same hopes, passions and dreams. For Brendan, that dream was getting a tattoo he'd wanted for years. He chose Stitch from Lilo & Stitch because of the message behind the character and the word Ohana - family. "Family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten." It's a simple message, but a powerful one. At Afford, we see every day that people with disability want the same things we all do: to express themselves, make meaningful choices, pursue their interests and belong to a community that values them. Brendan's new tattoo is more than ink. It's a symbol of identity, connection and the importance of having people around you who believe in your goals.
