After almost five years leading Afford, CEO Jo Toohey will step down from her role in May.   Jo joined Afford at a time when the organisation was facing significant challenges. What she brought with her was a deep belief in what Afford could be, and a determination to help it get there.   Since then, she has led a period of real change. Strengthening the organisation, building capability across teams, and helping refocus Afford on what matters most.   But what has always stood out is where Jo placed her attention: on the moments that matter.   Celebrating supported employees at their graduations. Seeing people grow in confidence and independence. Watching people achieve things that are important to them. Being part of community moments that bring people together.   Those moments have shaped her leadership, and they continue to shape Afford. Reflecting on her decision, Jo said:   “I came to Afford because I believed in what it could be. What I’ve seen is the strength of this community and the difference that is made in people’s lives every day.”   “It feels like the right time to hand over to the next leader, who will put their own mark on Afford and take it forward.”   Afford is now in a strong position, ready for what comes next. We thank Jo for her leadership, her care, and the impact she has had across our organisation and the people we support.   From 8 May, Afford’s Chief Financial Officer Nick Johnson will step into the role of Acting CEO, while the Board begins an external recruitment process for the CEO role.
