Facilities that support emergency services must be designed for more than just operations; they must be ready when communities need them most. At Marine Rescue Port Hedland, the new purpose-built facility delivers the space and capability required to coordinate marine emergency responses across the Pilbara. With dedicated areas for radio operations, training, and volunteer coordination, the building now supports over 45 volunteers who play a critical role in keeping local waters safe. For many years, the team operated out of 119-year-old building and temporary sea container facilities. This new development marks a significant step forward not only improving day-to-day operations, but strengthening the organisation’s ability to support the wider community. Delivering facilities like this requires close coordination from planning through to handover, ensuring every element supports long-term operational readiness.
