More than 2,200 munitions were disposed of across East New Britain during Operation Render Safe 2026. Teams from the Papua New Guinea Defence Force (PNGDF), #YourADF and partner nations disposed of the explosive World War II remnants. The operation removed explosive hazards across the Rabaul, Kokopo and Gazelle districts, helping protect more than 430,000 people living across the province’s 15,500 square kilometres.
