On Anzac Day, we mark the landings at Gallipoli in 1915 and commemorate all Australian personnel who have served and died in wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations. This year marks the 111th anniversary of the Gallipoli campaign. At dawn in Canberra, the Australian War Memorial was illuminated with stories of service and sacrifice, honouring the individuals and battlefields that have shaped Australia’s wartime history. The Catafalque Party mounted guard at the Stone of Remembrance; wreaths were laid on behalf of Australia and New Zealand, and prayers of commemoration were offered in quiet reflection. The Dawn Service address was delivered by Flying Officer Kbora Ali, who stood at the Memorial not only as a member of the Australian Defence Force but also as its first female Afghan, reflecting the evolving story of service and the enduring legacy of the Anzac spirit. In Australia, ADF personnel supported the Australian War Memorial services and services across our cities and towns. Overseas, ADF personnel supported services at Gallipoli in Türkiye and Villers-Bretonneux in France, as well as services in the Middle East and across the Indo-Pacific. We reflect on the courage and sacrifice that continue to shape our nation. Lest we forget. 📷 | Kym Smith #LestWeForget #AnzacDay #WeWillRememberThem #AusAirForce
