When generations connect, history doesn’t fade. It comes to life. At 102 years old, WWII veteran Ted McConchie remains closely connected to the Squadron he served with more than 80 years ago. A former Wireless Operator/Air Gunner flying Beaufort aircraft with 100 Squadron during the Second World War, Ted recently welcomed current Squadron members following Anzac Day commemorations at Point Cook. Stories were shared, memories revisited, and generations connected through a shared history of service. “It means a great deal to know the Squadron still remembers us,” Ted said. Members of No.100 Squadron also marched behind the Beaufort Association banner alongside families of former Beaufort aircrew during the Melbourne Anzac Day march — continuing the legacy of those who served before them.
