In the quiet farming town of Villers‑Bretonneux in northern France, thousands of young Australians who never returned home are remembered. Their names are etched in stone, their stories held by a community far from Australia’s shores. Each Anzac Day, as the bugle sounds across the Somme, this place speaks not of glory, but of the cost of service, youth interrupted, and families forever changed. ➡️ Those echoes of sacrifice connect home in our cities and towns. From creek swims and canoeing the Mary River to serving Australia at home and overseas, Air Force Medic Sergeant David Grieger’s journey began in Gympie. This Anzac Day, after more than a decade of service, including operational deployments and training the next generation of Air Force medics, he is heading home. It is a reminder that behind every name carved in stone is a life, a community, and a home, and what Anzac Day is truly about: service, sacrifice, and community. Where will you be spending Anzac Day, and who will you be remembering? 📸 | CPL Robert Whitmore & SGT David Grieger #AnzacDay #LestWeForget #WeWillRememberThem #AusAirForce
