Autonomous trucking is moving from concept to reality. At the VDA Media Summit, a preview event for IAA TRANSPORTATION, we had the opportunity to present to international media how we are working with Aurora to advance autonomous trucking. What is driving this transformation? The transport industry is facing fundamental challenges: a growing driver shortage, operational limits, and rising fuel costs. Autonomous solutions offer a pathway to address these constraints – with the potential to increase utilization, improve efficiency, and enhance safety across freight operations. Our partnership with Aurora is designed to scale these solutions. We are responsible for the autonomous driving system kits which will leverage a wide spectrum of our extensive automotive product portfolio from sensors, automated driving control units, high performance computers, telematics units, and more, to the complete fallback system which covers the full chain of effects. We will integrate these hardware components into pods which will be supplied to Aurora’s vehicle manufacturing partners. This will advance the product offering for autonomous trucking customers.
