20 new treasures will be heading to the Gallery, thanks to an extraordinary promised gift from collector and philanthropist Greg Moyle. The bequest features standout artworks by Rita Angus, Jacqueline Fahey, Louise Henderson, Frances Hodgkins, Ralph Hotere, Raymond McIntyre, John Pule, and more, offering a “who’s who” of twentieth-century New Zealand art. The Gallery’s curatorial team worked with Moyle to select pieces from his wide-ranging collection that would complement the Gallery’s existing collection and address important gaps. After more than five decades of collecting, Moyle’s promised gift ensures these works will be cared for and enjoyed by the public for generations to come. You’ll be able to see the works in a dedicated exhibition opening 23 May 2026 – save the date!
