AI has crossed a line that should make every business pause. AI safety & research company - Anthropic, recently revealed Mythos, their advanced AI model capable of autonomously identifying and exploiting software vulnerabilities at a speed and scale that exceeds most human teams. The capability is so powerful that it has not been publicly released, due to concerns it could be easily weaponised by criminals. While Mythos is currently being used defensively, it highlights a broader and more uncomfortable reality. The same AI tools accelerating innovation are also lowering the barrier to cybercrime. Tasks that once demanded deep technical expertise are becoming faster, cheaper and more accessible. For businesses, this reshapes cyber risk entirely. It is no longer just about being a target, it is about how quickly an incident can escalate and how prepared you are to respond when preventative controls inevitably fail. Strong security remains essential. Cyber insurance does not replace good security, but it plays a critical role when incidents occur, funding response, recovery, regulatory defence and liability at a time when speed is everything.
