Mozambique is building on the Zambezi. As the Republic of Mozambique marks 51 years of independence, the African Union Commission recognises the country's growing place in Africa's energy future. On the Zambezi, the Mphanda Nkuwa Hydropower Project will deliver 1,500 MW of baseload power, feeding into the Southern African Power Pool from 2031. As a project under the Programme for Infrastructure Development in Africa (PIDA), Mphanda Nkuwa advances the priorities of the Second Ten-Year Implementation Plan of Agenda 2063, linking national generation to a shared regional market. The Department for Infrastructure and Energy continues to support Member States in accelerating the infrastructure that powers integration. Republic of Mozambique.
