The Hidden Map of Indian Mobility Access to air travel is not only a question of whether an airport exists, but also how easily it can be reached. To explore this relationship, we have developed the ATR #MobilityMonitor: a way to observe how inter-city travel works today. For this analysis, it was applied to India, powered by anonymous data from 20 million Indian travellers. Instead of predicting the future from old aviation data, we created a backcast: a clear picture of today’s movement patterns, allowing us to model passenger mode choice and understand how air travel could grow with new airports and routes. And the first insight we uncovered?  India’s air penetration is just 3% of the domestic inter-city mobility market, less than half of China or the U.S. To grow aviation, we first needed to understand access.  Who can fly today… and who is still too far from an airport? #ConnectingIndia Read more: https://lnkd.in/dnume_8U
