SEO is evolving fast. This week’s Digiday piece, “How brands are ‘hacking’ zero-click search,” (link in comments) nails a growing truth: The search landscape isn’t about rankings anymore, it’s about visibility in AI answers. As platforms like Google’s AI Overviews, Perplexity, and ChatGPT become the new front door to the internet, the rules of discovery are being rewritten in real time. “Answer Engine Optimization” (AEO) and “Generative Engine Optimization” (GEO) are the next evolution of how intent meets opportunity. And yet, most strategies still stop at traffic. Clicks don’t equal customers and AI doesn’t care about keywords. It cares about credibility, structure, and verified authority. Because the real question isn’t “How do we rank?” It’s “Are we even in the story?”
