We had the honour to host Prof. Johan Neyts (KU Leuven, Belgium), a prominent virologist who has made outstanding contributions in the field of drugs and vaccine development! It was a dynamic day of discussions as our young scientists had the opportunity to learn and be inspired by Prof. Neyts on his successful translational approach to support industry and public health for different vaccine modalities. Prof. Neyts also shared his firsthand experience on the critical role of antivirals in combating vector-borne and respiratory infectious diseases, as well as the importance in pursuing scientific excellence in ID research and innovation, combined with high containment research capabilities, to drive translational and clinical outcomes. Exciting synergies and great opportunities ahead between our institutes as we jointly strengthen our network and collaborate together to deliver global impact in advancing tropical ID research and innovation!
