It was an honour to welcome His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana, to A*STAR Infectious Diseases Labs (A*STAR IDL) as part of his State Visit to Singapore. Hosted by Prof Huck Hui Ng, Assistant Chief Executive for Research and Talent Development of A*STAR - Agency for Science, Technology and Research, Prof Lisa F.P. Ng, Executive Director of A*STAR IDL and A*STAR's Biomedical Research Council, and Dr Wai Leong Tam, Deputy Executive Director of A*STAR Genome Institute of Singapore (A*STAR GIS), the visit showcased how A*STAR drives cutting-edge biotech research that delivers real-world impact.   President Mahama toured our facilities, including the high containment Biosafety Level 2 enhanced (BSL-2e) facilities and Pathogen Flow Platform, designed for impactful infectious disease research and innovation, to support public health, including preparedness and outbreak response, and industry needs.   We look forward to deeper collaboration between Ghana and Singapore, fostering expertise exchange in life sciences and advancing biotech innovation to protect communities and improve health outcomes!
