Dr. Ken Loh, Senior Scientist at A*STAR’s Infectious Diseases Labs (A*IDL), presented critical research on the development of a vaccine against Scale Drop Disease Virus (SDDV), led by A*IDL and UVAXX, at the AquaTropics Forum 2024. The forum, held at the National University of Singapore and co-organised by Aquapolis, the Singapore Food Agency, Urban Solutions & Sustainability Innovation & Enterprise Office (USS IEO), and NUS Enterprise, focused on advancing innovations in aquaculture to support Singapore’s '30 by 30' food security goal. We extend our gratitude to the organising committee for the opportunity to share how A*IDL’s targeted, science-driven approach to vaccine development is addressing this urgent challenge. SDDV has severely impacted Asian seabass farming across Southeast Asia, with mortality rates reaching as high as 70%. Our work aims to ensure a sustainable and resilient food supply for Singapore through innovative aquaculture solutions. This work could not have been possible without the visionary leadership of Professor Laurent Renia, A*STAR Senior Fellow (A*IDL), and support from the Singapore Food Agency and National Research Foundation. #ASTARforSG #idlabs #foodsecurity #sustainableaquaculture #30by30
