𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝘁 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗱. 🦠 Preparedness is often discussed in moments of crisis. But outcomes are rarely determined then. They are shaped much earlier—by whether organisations have already built the ability to act before 𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁𝘆 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝘂𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘁. At A*STAR IDL, the focus has been on moving beyond multidisciplinary collaboration as a principle, to making it workable in practice—across 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲, 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽𝘀. Four conditions have proven critical: 🟧 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗽𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲 — preparedness as a core institutional priority, not a project 🟩 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝘀 — infrastructure that reduces friction and speeds up work 🟦 𝗚𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 & 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘁 — durable frameworks that extend beyond individual grants 🟥 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗵𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 — partnerships that enable expertise to move across boundaries At A*STAR IDL, this work continues through sustained infectious disease research and innovation for pandemic preparedness—𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗱.
