Over the past two weeks, AAMRI and our members have been active across the country - strengthening advocacy and highlighting the value of Australia’s medical research sector. ➡️ Nationally, scientific leaders united through an open letter calling for full funding of the Medical Research Future Fund. ➡️ A new report reinforces this, showing institutes deliver billions in economic value and build vital national capability. ➡️ In NSW, we convened the AI Summit, bringing together leaders in realising the potential to excel in AI-enabled medical research. ➡️ We welcomed the launch of the NSW Parliamentary Friends of Medical Research group. ➡️ In VIC, the #100LabCoats campaign highlighted the importance of sustained support for the sector. ➡️ In WA, AAMRI members joined a medical research delegation, led by Hon Stephen Dawson MLC, engaging with the Federal Health Minister, WA MPs and NHMRC. Together, these developments reflect a sector that is collaborative, impactful, and central to Australia’s health and economic future.
