Happy Birthday to Claude Shannon, known by many as the “father of Information Theory.” Shannon was an American mathematician and electrical engineer. In 1948, he published A Mathematical Theory of Communication, which effectively created the field. He showed how Boolean algebra could be applied to electrical circuits, proved that “perfect secrecy” in cryptography is possible, and built early chess-playing machines before most people had even heard of artificial intelligence. Shannon was one of the great minds of modern history. Today, Shannon’s contributions underpin the digital world, shaping everything from the internet to modern AI systems. Claude (AI model), a modern AI system, is named in his honor. #ComputingHistory #ACM #PioneerPOV
