Two years ago, when Pete Bombaci gave a guest lecture at York University about human connections with GenWell, I made a pledge: talk to one random stranger every single day. What began as a personal challenge to step outside my comfort zone, improve my communication, and practice active listening turned into something far more meaningful than I ever expected. A few days ago, my faculty Leigh Mitchell reached out to me on "LinkedIn" with a simple question: “Are you still talking to strangers these days?” My answer was immediate: I can never stop. Because every conversation feels like a masterclass in empathy. In just a few minutes with someone I’ve never met, I’m reminded that: • Everyone has a story worth hearing - if you’re willing to ask and truly listen. • Communication isn’t just about speaking, it’s about creating connection. • The world feels smaller, warmer, and friendlier when you choose to say hello. What started as a 365-day challenge has now become a way of life. And somewhere along the way, it changed how I view marketing, communication, and human connection. At its core, marketing isn’t just about selling a product or service, it’s about understanding people. Their emotions, motivations, struggles, and stories. That understanding begins with conversation. Check out the full video below for a glimpse into some of these interactions 👇 https://bit.ly/3QRYDa1 To my faculty and mentor Leigh Mitchell, Thank you for keeping me accountable. And to the next stranger I cross paths with… I can’t wait to hear your story. #HumanConnection #Networking #Communication #Storytelling #Marketing #GrowthMindset #PersonalGrowth
