Co-Founder Klyk | 1 x Exit | Investor | Reformed technologist, on a mission to make Circular IT the new standard in Business Tech. Happy employees, happy planet & a delighted CFO, all in a Single Klyk. 💻
Last year we walked away from a £2m funding round - and we'd do it all over again. 💰 💡 Here's the story behind it. Ali Sarraf is someone I've known for several years - we first met on a panel discussion together and stayed in touch ever since. Last year, me & Zahid Khimji were fundraising for Klyk to build out the tech/AI scalability in the business, and Ali was my go-to to advise us on how we should be approaching it. We'd actually got to £2m committed funds. 😱 And then in a discussion with him, I saw a glimmer - he was seeing what we were seeing. The huge opportunity in IT. The Tech waste everywhere we looked. The chance to build something remarkable. We firmly believed the future of Klyk would be tech-enabled - and with Ali's experience and quality, it made total sense for him to come onboard as a Co-Founder and lead the technology side of our business as CPTO. We knew what he could bring. Building software revenue could propel the value of Klyk - and in Ali, we had someone who had scaled and led software teams at the highest level. But putting together a deal like this needs time and focus. You can't rush it. And we came to the view that getting Ali on board was more important than the £2m. Last week, we announced it to the world. And having worked alongside him for several months now, I can say it without hesitation - it's one of the best decisions we've ever made. The right partner beats the right cheque. Every time. Now we build.
