Recently, our Arvato Systems Malaysia Service Operations Director, Jeremy Nyam, delivered a guest lecture at Universiti Putra Malaysia, offering students a practical view of cybersecurity “beyond the textbook,” grounded in real-world business impact. Drawing from his role managing incidents and advising stakeholders, he shared a perspective focused on what happens when systems fail—and the decisions that follow.   He highlighted how cybersecurity has evolved far beyond classroom concepts. Traditional approaches such as spam filters, malware signatures, and cryptography are increasingly challenged by AI-driven threats, with attackers leveraging AI to generate personalised phishing, polymorphic malware, and scalable social engineering campaigns.   Through interactive scenarios, students saw how modern attacks unfold—from AI-generated scams to deepfake-enabled compromise—reinforcing that breaches often stem not only from technical gaps, but also from failures in process, verification, and human decision-making.   Anchoring his session in Malaysia’s context, Jeremy also highlighted the rise in scam activity and risks such as mule account recruitment, making the topic immediate and relevant. He concluded with career guidance, encouraging students to build real projects, gain hands-on experience, and communicate business impact effectively.   With strong demand for cybersecurity talent, his message was clear: start early, stay curious, and keep adapting. At Arvato Systems Malaysia, we are proud to play a part in shaping and supporting the next generation on their journey. Special thanks to Alfian Abdul Halin, Senior Lecturer; Multimedia Department (Faculty of Computer Science & Information Technology) at Universiti Putra Malaysia for the liaison and we look forward to continuous collaborations to come in furthering the impact of cybersecurity education for the future generation.    #ArvatoSystemsMalaysia #WeEmpowerDigitalLeaders #AUC #UniversitiPutraMalaysia #GuestLecture
